So you are working hard to feed your Facebook page with fresh content and photos, you tweet on a regular basis, but people fail to interact with your updates. If you feel your voice gets lost in the crowd, it’s time to bring in some calls-to-action. A simple and smart web form or survey can turn into a brilliant engagement stirrer. Read on and see how!
It’s a well-known fact that forms and surveys bring very good payoff in gathering feedback and converting visitors to leads on regular webpages. They work wonderful on social media pages too, provided you employ the right tools to get them running. Fortunately, there are some useful web services that can build forms from scratch and, moreover, help boost fan engagement.
“All good, but I can do it myself”, you may say. Well, you can try coding forms on your own, but think twice, as it’s a really pains taking job. For publishing forms on your Facebook fan pages, the simple way to it is to use a web form builder that can add HTML and JavaScript content to the framework, thus importing the functionalities of your web form to the Facebook estate. You can create a separate tab that contains your form or survey. On your personal Facebook profile you can simply post the link to your form that goes remotely hosted and have people access it that way.
On Twitter, things are shorter and simpler. Just spread the word around about your form by tweeting the link. For a greater engagement, you can synchronize the form with your account to trigger a tweet with every new submission. Of course, the content should be highly viral, to keep people following your updates.
123ContactForm helps you create custom web forms and post them on social networks in just a few clicks. To put the cream on the cake, this service helps you integrate your forms and surveys with 3rd party services to assemble mailing lists, track form users into ticketing systems or display the input right on your website. Sky is the limit!
Here are some examples on how you can spice up your social media pages using web forms.
Everyone around loves discount coupons
Here’s a foolproof receipt of success: give away discounts of products on sale and direct your loyal fans to cash them by filling in a form with their contact details and the coupon number. For you, it’s two birds with one stone: you stimulate sales and gather leads to advertise to in the future. For your friends, it’s the sweet taste of bargain. Result? A great deal of buzz around your page!
Picnic surveys and polls – wanna join?
Perhaps the simplest way to stir fan engagement is a nice and simple poll that everyone can answer with no effort. The secret lays in the question you ask and the possible responses – they should be fun, even hilarious. Try something like: “Would you rather roast hot dogs or marshmallows?” and leave a blank field for other ideas. There’s no limit to the ideas you can use – just put your own imagination at work.
Donations that go ten times more engaging
When you fight for a cause, the more people you get to impress and enroll, the better. Use social media to popularize your mission and don’t be afraid to even ask for donations right on your page. What can be more direct than a donation form linked to PayPal (for example) and placed on your Facebook page that friends can share over? You can even keep them updated with the status of the donations in real time, to make them all feel part of your endeavor.
Event seat booking goes social
If you are throwing a party or maybe organizing a business event, you need to register attendants in an easy way. Since everyone has a Facebook account nowadays, why not cut down steps in registration and publish the form right on your page? People can enter their details, while the form records their entry and books a seat. When the total number of seats is taken, the form shuts down. Simple, ain’t it?
Feedback forms give users the feeling their opinion is respected
Usually people enjoy expressing their thoughts and emotions upon a topic that influences their day to day life. When you request feedback over your own activity, you basically show you care about what they have to say, and this is flattering. Moreover, people who have written a line in answer are likely to follow the topic to see if their action had any response, so the level of fan engagement rises. Go ahead and ask some feedback questions in the shape of a form or survey. The result will surprise you.
Contests, oh contests! Where do I sign up?
Last but not least, the competitions popularized through social media are highly viral means of promotion for you. It’s the sense of urge, the adrenaline rush or simply the interactivity of a contest that drives people to enter. Facebook has certain guidelines for contests so make sure you read them first. Put up a form where users can register and state the timeframe when the competition is live. Sit back and enjoy as people are commenting, sharing your content and hanging around to see the outcome.

Hey there Faissal,

I think adding webforms in your social media campaigns can be a great way of capturing leads and gaining new readers and customers. Though this has to be done in a calculated way since if the campaign is not properly plan and is haphazard it may appear like spam and in fact may drive away customers.

I have been thinking about using Google forms, or Gravity forms. I am using Gravity on my blog, but I haven’t figured out if I can integrate them on Facebook without just linking to the page on my blog.
Great tips.
