One way you can bring people to your business is by hosting an event. Your event might be a workshop, a brown bag lunch speaker, or a seminar. Facebook allows you to create an event listing that you can share with people on Facebook. Your Facebook event can also be seen by people who are not Facebook users.
As you might know I have been hired to work as a social media specialist in a big brand in Qatar called Katara ( Valley of cultures), I’m so pleased to get this job. In Katara we host a lot of events every week, and we promote those events through the social media, and through this post I’ll show you how to create a facebook page event and promote that event on your facebook page.
Firstly, You will need to go to your event tab below your page image, then click on “create event” at the right-up corner.
1- Event Name: You have to type here your event name. Note: you won’t be able to change it in the future.
2- Date and Time: You have to select the date and you can add the end time if you need.
3- Location: Type the name of the location, if the location has a facebook page you can use it.
4- Details: Type a short details about your event.
5- Add Event Photo: Upload your event photo, it should be 162 x 482.
6- Check this option if you want to make the event guests list visible to everyone.
7- Check this option if you want everyone to have the abilities to write on your event wall.
8- Click on “Create Event” button to create your event.
Create A Profile Image For Your Event
The image on your fan Page is prime real estate. The maximum dimensions are now 180px by 540px. I recommend taking up all that space. In Katara page we do a great job of utilizing this space on our Page. As you can see in the example below, we made a profile image just to promote the event.
Post Your Event On Your Page Wall
Go to your facebook event page and copy the link that the browser gives you. Next, go to your facebook page wall and paste the link there. Facebook will pull the image and the event information.
Create A Contest
This is the fun part when it comes to promote your events, you can create a contest between your fans to get a free access to your event if it needs a tickets. You can also offer something valuable to your fans if they help you promote the event. In the example down below, recently, we asked the fans to change their facebook profile image to the event image to get into a chance to win 2 VIP tickets, look at the huge response we got.

Promote It With A Facebook Advertising
If your event will need tickets to get access to, it is great idea to promote your event through facebook advertising and the money you will invest into facebook advertising will get back to you through the tickets sales. Facebook ad is a great advertising platform as you can target people from a spicific location and Demographics.
*TIP: You can target your page fans through facebook ad, which can be great..!
1- Destination: Select the event from the drop-down menu.
2- Body: type a short description about your event.
3- Image: Design a 110×80 image to your event, and upload it.
4- Preview: Check how your facebook ad going to look like for people.
